Come make music with us.

I started a free monthly club for musicians, and you’re invited.

Sarasota County has plenty of lessons, bands and bar jams. What it didn’t have was one open room where every kind of musician could simply meet each other. So I started one: the Sarasota County Musicians Club.

It’s for everybody. Hobbyists, semi-pros and pros. Any instrument, any genre, any age, any skill level. Singers, songwriters, producers and DJs. If you just love being around live music, come and listen. There’s no audition, no experience needed, and it costs nothing.

What happens at a meeting

  • Meet. Name tags that list your instrument and genre, plus a gig and collaboration board. Find bandmates, teachers, students and friends.
  • Learn. A short, beginner-friendly workshop or guest speaker: getting gigs, home recording, songwriting, gear, stage presence and more.
  • Play. An open jam to close the night. Everyone gets a turn, beginners are encouraged, and listening is always fine.

Meetings run about two hours, and you can walk in at any point.

  • Thursday, October 15, 5:00–7:00 PM · First meeting
  • Saturday, November 14, 10:30 AM–12:30 PM · Saturday lunchtime
  • Tuesday, December 8, 5:00–7:00 PM · Tuesday evening

Every meeting is free. The day and time rotate with the library’s room schedule, so more people can make at least some of them. Bring an instrument if you like; acoustic instruments and small amps at a reasonable volume are welcome, and the room has a PA and a microphone.

Why I’m doing this

Writing songs is mostly a solo job, and I wanted a room where that stops for a couple of hours a month. The club isn’t about my music. Nobody promotes their own work at meetings, and that includes me. It’s about the people who show up.

So bring a friend, bring a guitar, or just bring yourself. I’ll be the one handing out name tags.
