Monday morning tan lines
October 19, 2026
Every Monday there's a moment in the truck where the weekend is already behind me and I haven't quite let it go. Windows down, salt still stuck in my dashboard clothes, a little sand somewhere it shouldn't be. That's where "Monday Morning Tan Lines" lives.
It's track ten on Saltwater State of Mind, and it's built on one small idea: the weekend leaves marks, and for about a day they're the best part of the week. A sunburn on the back of your neck. A phone that died around noon Saturday and never got charged. A radio turned low because nobody has the energy to fight with it.
I didn't want the chorus to make a big statement. It's a tan line. It shows up, it's proud of itself, and by Wednesday it's fading. The song is mostly just me admitting that I'm wishing Sunday weren't over, and that the ride home was good anyway.
If you've ever pulled into your driveway Monday morning with the engine still ticking and the sea still in your ears, you've lived this one. Give it a spin on the way to work today. It's a good Monday song, because it lets you stay in the weekend a little longer.
